Mountain View and ‘New’ Cemetery

Here the path skirts the border of the town giving magnificent views of the peaks of the Klein River Mountains.  Across the fence, you may see a Blesbok or two in the adjacent private nature reserve.

Many tortoises roam the grassy area, and every year, when the grass must be cut, there is a tortoise rescue party to remove and relocate them to the nature reserve before the ‘bossieslaner’ moves in.

Although the Blue Gum trees are considered invasive, they have been left to grow here as they provide an effective windbreak.

This is also a favourite dog walking area.  You can choose to wander through the cemetery before turning back to Queen Victoria Street and down the road to the two Historical cemeteries.
