Where the river takes another 90-degree bend heading down to the estuary you see when driving to Hermanus, 47 steps take you up to the top of the embankment or down to the river.
The area has been beautified by various aloes planted on the steep slope, giving a colourful display during autumn and early winter.
At the top of the embankment, there are a few lovely viewpoints of the river below.
The area where the recreational boats are launched lies to the west of the lookout area on top of the embankment – a slow river cruise will be one of the highlights during your Stanford visit.
